JIT Sequencing
Just-In-Time Sequencing is the process of suppliers coordinating specific parts or items to a designated manufacturing facility assembled according to requested specifications and in specific order according to manufacturer usage.
Many manufacturing plants have adopted a "just in time" manufacturing system, ordering parts and modules on an as-needed basis to help reduce on-site inventory. This systematic approach allow greater flexibility for design and other changes, and create a leaner manufacturing environment.
JIT manufacturing facilities often choose the advantages of utilizing an outsourced JIT partner to receive inbound bulk goods from a supplier, pick multiple bulk items to a specific order requirements, and transport the sequences products Just-In-Time to the manufacturing facility as specified.
Outsourcing of JIT services has many benefits:
- Reduction of on-site inventory
- Lower production and labor costs
- Reduction in fixed overhead
- Ability to efficiently inspect or quarantine non-conforming
